ROSEMONT, Ill. – The stars are coming out to support Honor Flight Chicago at the eighth-annual Law Enforcement Hockey Classic on Saturday, March 2, at The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and fans are encouraged to arrive early before the 7 p.m. puck drop to take advantage of a raffle, silent auction and pre-game festivities featuring appearances by:
Jon Seda, who stars as Detective Antonio Dawson in NBC’s hit primetime series Chicago PD. Seda previously played Sgt. John Basilone in The Pacific, a 10-part miniseries about the Pacific Theatre of World War II from the producers of Band of Brothers. Earlier in his career, Seda was a regular on the series Homicide: Life on the Street and Third Watch.
Seda will meet-and-greet our veterans in attendance at the Hockey Classic and will take part in pre-game ceremonies on the ice. Seda has an athletic background: he was a highly successful amateur boxer and finished as runner-up in the New Jersey Golden Gloves competition prior to landing his first acting role in the boxing film Gladiator.
DB Sweeney is an experienced competitor in the Law Enforcement Hockey Classic, having suited up multiple times to skate with the Chicago Police Department roster. He will competed with the Chicago PD team once again in 2019.
Sweeney was the star of The Cutting Edge in which he played the character of Doug Dorsey, a former captain of the U.S. Olympic Ice Hockey team who competes for figure skating gold after an injury ends his hockey career. Sweeney also portrayed navigator 1st Lt. Phil Lowenthal in Memphis Belle, a fictionalized movie about a real WWII B-17 Flying Fortress bomber.
Brandon Bollig is a Stanley Cup champion who captured the Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013, just one season after making his NHL debut. A fan-favorite enforcer for the Blackhawks, Bollig had his best season in 2013-14 when he appeared in 82 games, tallying seven goals, seven assists and 92 penalty minutes. He was traded to Calgary prior to the 2014-15 season and retired from professional hockey early in 2018.
Bollig will be available to meet-and-greet fans on the concourse inside the main rink at The Edge Ice Arena prior to the game.
Rob Johnson is back for a return engagement as the emcee of the Law Enforcement Hockey Classic. Johnson is the weekday anchor for the CBS 2 Chicago evening newscasts at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Johnson joined CBS 2 in 2006 after eight years as a weekend anchor and reporter at WLS-TV in Chicago.
A multiple-Emmy Award winner, Johnson is a big hockey fan. He chronicled all three of the Chicago Blackhawks’ recent Stanley Cup Championships, is an associate member of the Chicago Blackhawk Alumni and enjoys watching his son play hockey and playing himself in his spare time.
